Amos Lee, will you come to my Birthday party? 11-18-08 10:46am EST
Hey Guys!

I just wanted to share some songs that I've been listening to lately. There's really no flow or reason to this playlist...save for the simple fact that each song makes me utterly happy!

If you don't have time for all of them, at least listen to "Sweet Pea." (SO GOOD!!!)

What are the songs that make YOU happy???
whipsmileI saw Tristan Prettyman in concert, she opened for Jason Mraz. It was good!
carachelleSweet Pea reminds me of the last song that Jackson Brown plays at the end of "Concert for George." By the way, I LOVE YOU!
ktayExpress Yourself (from the Remember the Titans soundtrack), This Will Be (by Natalie Cole), and anything that we thought about doing for our "recital". :) I miss you!
smittymonkey"Dance Your Life Away" ~Jon McLaughlin... I'm going to see him and Colbie at the Tampa Theater in December... I wish you could come, too! =(
smittymonkey"The Chain" ~Ingrid Michaelson, "Samson" ~Regina Spektor
whipsmilei listened to you playlist at work today.
1st: I love Kristin Chenoweth and that song is ADORABLE!
2nd: Cold Beverage - yeah, I was moving the whole time it was on!
3rd: some of you songs left em feeling blue.
and 4th: yes, Sweet Pea was played more than once. :-)

Jelly Recollections... 10-31-08 04:41pm EST
There is something highly enjoyable about stepping on dried leaves. It’s like nature’s bubble wrap!

Today the sun came out. I can’t tell you how good it felt! These kinds of days always remind me of my elementary school days when I would get off the school bus, grab a blanket, and watch the clouds go by in our backyard. It was always in the fall or springtime, each time the temperature warmed up after a cold spell. Armed with the latest copy of the Babysitter’s Club series and a plate of either toast with grape jelly or hard-boiled eggs (as those were the only things I could make on my own with confidence,) I would lay down till one side of me was freezing from the still cold ground and the other felt on fire from the sun’s rays. (I still find something really balanced about that feeling!)

I didn’t think about anything in those moments. No concern about schoolwork, cleaning my room, feeding the cat. I didn’t think about my future, my career, marriage, where I would live, what I would look like. And I definitely didn’t think about politics, religion, war, elections… For a few moments I just enjoyed the feeling on my skin and the sounds the breeze made.

I really enjoyed my walk today!

Do you ever have moments like that?
carachelleDefinitely. You mean like when you eat raspberry yogurt? I by "you" I really mean YOU. HA!
carachellep.s. I bought you a totally awesome present at the dollar store today. I can't wait til you get it in the mail. I guess that means I should put it in the mail.
amy_szaboHA! I do LOVE raspberry yogurt...
joeThe other night I got to walk through a serenely snow strewn path in the english countryside on my way home from work. I couldn't help but smile and giggle (yes giggle) all the way despite the cold and look up to God with thanks for the wonderful gift. I find it so hard to stop thinking about the cares of this world and appreciate the peaceful moments. Life could probably be a lot less stressful and a lot more enjoyable if we all stopped a little more often eh?
joeThank you!

Our Greatest Fear 10-29-08 08:49am EST
Our greatest fear is not that we are inadequate,
but that we are powerful beyond measure.

It is our light, not our darkness, that frightens us.
We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant,
gorgeous, handsome, talented and fabulous?

Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.

Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking
so that other people won't feel insecure around you.

We were born to make manifest the glory of God within us.
It is not just in some; it is in everyone.

And, as we let our own light shine, we consciously give
other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our fear,
our presence automatically liberates others.

~Marianne Williamson

Said the Raindrop to the Seed... 10-10-08 10:36am EST
As I took my walk today, I couldn't help but be amazed by God's creation. It was impossible not to stare at the vibrant reds, yellows, and oranges set off by the clear blue sky. What a beautiful way to usher in the winter season!

On another note, I cannot get enough of this song! I just had to share it with you guys...

My nephew thinks it's me singing so Sara calls it "The Mimi Song."
whipsmileshe's thin, cute, plays the guitar, has a sweet voice and sings a pretty song...yeah, I'm jealous.
ninja_penguinI like that song. The fact that she is thin, cute, playes the guitar, and has a sweet voice doesn't hurt either. ;)

PS. She has a nice smile as well.
amy_szaboAND a cool accent!
ninja_penguinAND a cool accent! :)
crazy_mamaWish we had those colors here in FL. It's still just as green as ever!!!
crazy_mamaWould LOVE to see some!
weekendsongservicewhat a random mother. awesome!
joeyep, just fell in love with the youtube girl. nope, not weird in the slightest ;D
ktayThis is a great song. What is this video called?
cellocellocelloGreat talking to you last night...
smittymonkeyYou tempt me! Nice song, Mimi!
create_a_wayhey...did you listen to Glenn Beck last thursday?
metcalaI miss my packing partner. How are you?
create_a_wayLast weekend he let everybody get FREE access to the Insider stuff! Last Thursday he was just being his political Einstein self, and sounded to me like the most intelligent human being on the planet as he talked about the economy.
create_a_wayhe did it again today! hey, by the way, don't you miss the fact that the weather here is PERFECT right now? ;)
cellocellocelloRing out the message.
joeI went through all of her youtubes. If she'd put out a cd it sure would be a whole lot easier ;)
marlaAmy, you have a link to Passions! That's awesome! :) My roommate the year after FC and I got hooked on it...back when it was "good" (and by that I mean completely not taking itself seriously). Back when the Original cast. were on it. And when Galen Gering was popular and on the Wayne Brady show. (Should I have admitted all of this? Probably not. But it's still fun ;)
joesinners!!
marlaThe last few years were just boring and I only saw a few minutes of it in the breakroom at work. Since it was on during the day, I only ever watched it while in school. Very silly :)

HELP!!!! 09-17-08 01:38pm EST
So, here I am at Starbucks.

Our power got knocked out Sunday afternoon due to 70 MPH winds. As of last night, around 300,000 homes and businesses were still without power and guess what??? We are one of those homes!!!!

Isn't that AWESOME???

The power companies sent all their men and women down to Texas. No one was prepared for this. The stores are out of ice and batteries. We have no hot water, and all of our food is turning to waste. (We had a big grilling party last night!) The worst part is they don't think we'll get our power fixed till Friday...

Night one: Amy brought her battery powered keyboard downstairs for a family sing-a-long/name that tune contest.

Night two: Amy and Andrea played Disney Scene It (minus the "Scene" part) and told each other's futures in dating with a set of Hello Kitty playing cards.

Night three: Amy and Andrea revived said dating game and then watched part of "Son of Rambow" with Andrea's laptop (freshly charged at local Starbucks!)

Night four: Any ideas???

...Of course I probably won't get them till friday!

Aloha!

*UPDATE*

We got our power back last night!!! I'm so happy--thanks to the hardworking AEP guys! There are still around 180,000 customers without power, and who knows when everyone will have the internet, but for right now I'm going bask in the goodness that is a hot shower!
whipsmileWell, it certainly sounds like you are making the most of it!

Night four: Marry, Date, or Dump; 6-Degrees of Seperation
whipsmileyeah, easily one of my favorites. She and I can spend HOURS playing it.
joes_wifeI would say, Name that tune, but with your family it would probably not be a challenge.

So sorry about the outage :( Hand in there!
smittymonkeyThe longest game of MASH know to man... go for Guiness Record size!
polly_momSorry Muy :(
ktayBummer! How about you play, "Come Visit Kaitlin"? It's a really fun game! I hear that she even has power at her house!
andthekinghey Amy, Where do you live now? Are you in Louiville, KY?
penny4yourthoughtstons of ppl around here lost power too (including my school, which meant three days off for me :)...we got ours back quick, though, b/c we live near a hospital.
fantasticaGlad you made it through. Brendan and I just got our power back on after 4 days without too. It was irritating more than anything. But I was thankful to have hot water (it runs on natural gas).
planetheadThanks for letting our not-at-all-distant to slightly distant neighbors borrow your linemen for the county.
divineharmonyI miss you!
andthekingThanks! We're in KY now, and they had a lot of wind damage from the same storm.
