Last night, with some help I finished the LAST of my Ebay listings. Woohooooo! Course, there's still a bunch-load of Magic cards to be listed, but as far as the stuff I was primarily dealing with, it's all listed. No more inventory left. I have 343 active listings. Maybe I should make a ticker for that. HA.

Argh, except that I just remembered that "one more thing..." of course... but at least it's just one thing. :)

I got a new office chair. It is way more comfy than my previous office chair. Between that and the regular exercising, my back is doing a lot better these days! Not perfect, but definite improvement. Woohoo!

Oh, I forgot to rag on Mike about the Spurs game L and I went to on Friday night. The Rockets were ahead by about 3 points the whole game, it seemed, up until the VERY last when we pulled ahead. It was great fun. I was especially pleased because 2 of the big guys were out on injury. There were some Rockets fans next to us that took off when the tide turned. Guess they got tired of the screamy girls jumping up and down next to them. :-D

I'm sure I had other things to post about that were far more important than any of this, but I feel light and fluffy today.

Speaking of light and fluffy, does anyone have one of those memory foam mattress toppers? If you do, do you like it? Dislike it? How many inches thick is it? Thanks for your helps in advance.

whipsmilei want one of those mattress toppers too!
toad8029Amy and I have one its about 6 inches thick.. other then having to jump into bed we like it alot :)
toad8029oh and the bed sheets dont fit like they should...comfort is great though
toad80296=4 typo :)
texastinaI have one and I love it! Mine is 2.5 inches thick (I believe) I used to have a feather bed, I like this so much better - consistent and slightly more supportive fluff.
runningjakeWe have memory foam pillows but I'm not a big fan of them... They tend to get too flat where they "remember" where my head is!
sharonWhewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww that's a lot.
chariroseyGlad your back is feeling better. I'm thinking mine would feel better if I would exercise more :-(
tessWe have a memory foam topper that is 5 inches thick and we LOVE IT! It reduces the amount of tossing and turning also. Good luck!
adamandjessesdadWe had a 4" off-brand memory foam pad. I liked it, but my wife didn't.
madtomkiddWe're going to get one before too long. They are super nice, but, depending on your regular mattress, you might have to buy deep-pocketed sheets
sarahinthesunI want one of those mattress toppers, too. My chiropractor recommended them.

That's a lot of listings. I'm going to go snooping around your eBay store.

Yay for good chair! My back feels better for a different reason...
simon_saysMagic as in Magic the Gathering? Ha ha ha ha ha...my ex was into and I was "forced" out of love to organize his many thousands of cards. Don't miss those days!
chaiWe have a tempur-pedic bed, which, in my opinion, is the cadillac of memory foam. I know that's more than a mattress topper, but we both love it. The only complaint I might have is that it retains your body heat extremely well, so there have been a few nights that I've been too hot.
bethebooWe have one of the toppers. I like it a lot!!
the_girl_next_doorWe have memory foam mattress toppers on all of our beds, and we love them. Our first one is 3 inches, and we like it more than our 4 inch one. I don't know what brand we have, but we got them on smartbargains.com.
janedoeI have a memory foam mattress, about 8 inches thick, and love it. the best part is I can roll over and not disturb my husband.
sarahmarcelleWe are firm mattress people so I don't know about that! Nothing squishy allowed around here!
melljHa..on the magic cards!! David had those too. He recently sold them to a some of guys who play in the barracks. I was happy to see them go!!
texastinai definitely posted that as a reminder to myself more than to others... thanks for your comment, its so true...
sarafranklinhicksGood job on opting for lifestyle changes as opposed to just using pain medicine until those don't work and then having surgery! Back surger almost never solves the problem.
cbonkTsk - saying "coke" for everything seems pretty inexact for a scientist! ; )
littlelamb343?! That's impressive!
stylinmamaLight and fluffy reminds me of a 3 Musketeers bar... Oh, sorry. We're not talking about that are we?
adelineAndrew and I have one of those mattress things... i really like it, it makes the more comfy. It's probably a few inches thick I think its from target.

Fantastic typo. 11-13-08 02:44pm CST
I just got an ad in my junkmail for "free gifts with purchase" from a cosmetic/body product company. Among those listed was a lip product:
Lift Radiance Essential Balm
With Pulping Effect

Teehee.
adamandjessesdadI like(?) the ones offering online degrees, when it's obvious that the writer didn't get past 2nd grade.
DessertDivaPulping, eh? Ouch!
scbreweroh wow. I seriously don't want my lips pulped. THat sounds painful! :)
arsenalYou read junk mail?????
rachelwPulping! LOL!
sharonick
kendradI wonder if it makes your lips bleed.
butterflyhomerachelew. yuck. Ha Ha!
drgannokay i'm confused too...other people have commented...sigh...i don
drgann(pressed enter)'t know what happened to that no good for nothin' blog.
sarahmarcelleOw!
cbonkI'm a pulp-free girl - lipstick or orange juice! Sounds like you should send it to Leno!
sarahinthesunoh no, lip pulping! I hate that! I like no pulp lips.
simon_saysI bet your lips will look pulped if you forget to take Chapstick with you to Alaska!
stylinmama*shudder* ;)
chariroseygross
fireboltnot sure i want to try a pulping effect on my lips. :\
jdickensyeah...i'm gonna have to toss a bat signal up with that last email...
heatheronthehillNice to hear from you again! :) The Alaska thing sounds very exciting! Hope that works out!
nolongerwisehave you ever been to Buckhorn Saloon and Museum? I keep seeing it advertised. Is that something we should do? If so, restaurant.com has a $10 gift card to there for only $.90! I will probably order it along with some other restaurants around town. You should get on there. Today and tomorrow you can get an extra 70% off the price they have with the discount code DESSERT. Go check it out! Then maybe we can all go out to eat together for cheap!
mrs_poochieawesome
vandeI'm not sure a "plumping effect" would've even sold me ;)
nolongerwiseRyan is off tomorrow, so I am going to talk him into taking me to see San Anotonio. If y'all are free after work tomorrow, we would love to see y'all. If weekdays are too busy, we'll try again later.

Today 11-04-08 09:48pm CST
I got up at 5:30. I went to work. I never went to my office. My coworker and I loaded up equipment in an SUV and drove a little over an hour out to cow (sheep? goats? grass?) country where we did water chemistry on five wells. I just got home. I'm sweaty, covered in dust, and I stink. And tomorrow I'll do it all again, except we're trying for six wells.

And you know what? It was a good day. I love field work.
(12 older comments)
mrs_poochieI got up early today, should have been at work at 5:30, made it here by 5:40.
janedoeI worked over 12 hours yesterday!
tessI am glad that you had a great day with some fun! It is such a blessing when someone gets to love what they do.
fireboltYesterday was a good day to be outside too!!! :) It was so nice out there! :D
jdickens*ding* you're gonna love this one.
rockinrobinI hope you have a wonderful sweaty time tomorrow :-)!
onelittlecandlesounds like a fun day, in my opinion! :)
raifhausGood day!!!
I enjoyed our field work days, too when I was a little lab assistant.
leyvaleyvaI love ploaying with chemicals, I should have been a chemist. what fun!
mayflowerFun, out-of-the-office stuff is so nice sometimes!
navydocI like a woman that can get down and dirty.
motherinisraelWell, I KNOW where you got that love of field work. I'm sure ready for some field work - or play, actually - but my knee still says no. And hey, what is this business of having a healthy eaters group and not telling me about it? Oh, is that because I never post? Good point.
motherinisraelSorry - I don't remember, but I'm sure you are right. You can add me in if you still want to.
leyvaleyvaNot right now... actually pancreas transplants are not that advanced right now. They don't even take the old one out when they do them, they just add another one. there is dr in minesota that one the members from san angelo told him about that is experimenting with transplanting the islet cells onto the liver and removing the pancreas altogether. its advanced. we're hoping something will come along... I don't want to be a single mom.
chariroseyfunny pictures of cats with captions
more animals
cowbilliesSounds like a nice change of pace!
ladidoddits so overwhelming!! :) i think ill have a garage sale this weekend...
fireboltthe whole idea is that some students can learn better when you put the words to song.

We have lot of "raps" we use in the education world, about the presidents, the solar system and kids usually like the "beat" to which you say the words.

That's the whole point of the project, although the idea of me, a pregnant white girl, rapping, is really amusing.
rockinrobinLewis wedding date is : March 12, 2009. I need your address to get an invitation sent to you.
heatheronthehilla week with no post?!? ok? :)
cbonkMy parents visited Auschwitz while we were there, but I was the only one of the kids who would have been old enough to go - they have an age recommendation (if not restriction) for visitors. Their pictures from there are really chilling. Lidice had a pretty big impact on me...we ate our lunch on the foundations of the old church there and I remember thinking about it a lot, even at the time.
fireboltwow...they are soooooooooo lucky. i'm jealous!
nolongerwisesounds like fun!
nolongerwisei promise we're not trying to ignore you...we've been busy and just having good family alone time (we've lived with family since our house sold). We'll have to get together soon. I met your parents and grandparents Sunday. I didn't realize it was your parents until we were on the way home. We really liked West Ave. Everyone was very very nice!
janedoeyeah, I don't spend much time in my office and it's GREAT! :D

Huh. 10-31-08 08:56am CST
So as it turns out, I'm like the least festive Holladay ever. As I was contemplating my closet on this lovely Halloween morning, I realized I didn't even have an orange shirt to wear to work today! I'll have to go by Old Navy after work or sometime this weekend and pick up a little pumpkin shirt for next year. Do they still have those cute $5 tees?

I also didn't make pumpkin muffins, orange-sprinkled sugar cookies, or even a festive cake for my coworkers. I'm sure I'll be getting strange looks from them all day. "Who is this person, and why didn't she bring us food? She always brings us food?"

Sigh.

And you know what's worse? I didn't even bring Halloween candy. I know. Shoot me now.

Maybe I'll make up for it at Thanksgiving. Or maybe I'll run by the grocery store at lunch and appease my coworkers with store-bought cuppycakes. We shall see. :)

spinningbeeSAME!!! I had delusions of grandeur today...then realized....what's the point? Probably 2 people will be in the office today, and I've got to run errands and I don't want to get my diamond ring cleaned wearing a hot pink wig and fake tattoos. It's tacky.
madtomkiddNope, no rabbit whatsoever. I think they're probably not worth the effort. (^_^)
stylinmamaYeah Target has cute T-shirts. I was going to buy one but...well it'd be too tight right now. :)
mister_cThanks. I kinda think she's awesome too.
chariroseyI was that way last year.
tu_madrei'm dressed as a mover at work today. i'm wearing my shirt that says "bowell moving co." (-:
tu_madre
heatheronthehillyep! that's where mine are! (google)
spike427since i don't even celebrate halloween, i've probably got you beat on the least festive holladay today! ;)
wifeletI made orange sprinkled cookies for the kids at church, but then I was sick Wednesday, so I ate them. What does that make me??
janedoeI didn't bake either :D
rockinrobinWhere have all the trick or treaters gone? We probably have had less than 20.
linda_gThat's a good idea about the tee shirt for next year. I think I'll do the same. Knowing me though, I'll forget all about it by next year, and even if I vaguely remember buying it, I'll never remember where I put it.
nolongerwisecan't wait to see y'all!
bootymusicmamaYes. It's the original all purpose spreader. If you do not care for it, just send it back and I can refund that.
texas_kandikaneits ok i had a pumpkin shirt did i wear it? no.
ashley_armandmy mom said you called to check on me, I just wanted to let you know that I am doing well, with the exception of a lingering cold :)
sarahinthesunha. I barely put a costume on Grace! At least you threw a whole party. Hey, that's your problem! You were all Halloweened out from the party. You were just too festive too early.

We sat on the lawn in Laredo and handed out candy for a couple of hours. There were massive amounts of people flooding the street. It was crazy. Tina and I had quite a time making fun of inappropriate costumes.
adelinecan i be ur co worker!? bring me homemade food :D
bestillWe were out of town for the day today and got home around 8 PM. I needed to do my 20 min. so I headed out for a walk with my MP3 player. It is just a gorgeous, warm evening and I just wanted to thank you for the 20 min. challenge because I would have missed this lovely evening had it not been for that. Having Josh Grobin's "The Prayer" be the last song that came on as I came near home was icing on the cake.
angenymityIt WAS!! But now the tune has a special meaning for me (and my buddy) :)
angenymityHaha! "Least festive Holladay"--that's a clever little pun!
brownieyou know... at least you thought about it. We didn't buy Halloween candy and I kept thinking that it was a normal day... just work and school. I like your pun too!
nolongerwisewe are getting to town friday, but i think we are going to have some family time this weekend. Ryan starts work on Tuesday. We'll give y'all a call next week some time. I can't wait to see y'all!
adelinecan u ask doug if he can tell me how to make a green tea latte!? :) do i need a fancy machine!? :(

Weekend fun and poll of the day 10-27-08 10:43am CST
It was a good weekend. Friday night Linds came over so we could watch Baby Mama. I'd started watching it with Sarah after Nat had said it was funny, but didn't get to finish. I'm glad I eventually did- it's hilarious!

Today I got a spam email with subject line: "Legitimate work at home job!" Well why didn't you say so sooner? Now of course I'll trust you!

Fantastic party on Saturday. Spent all day getting ready for it (thank you for the help!) but wound up with a great turnout and a lot of good times had by all. I was highly entertained at the pleo-name introductions. "Firebolt! Come meet Tess." Hahaha. Makes me want to bust out the chorus of "It's a Small World." I still think Benj had the best costume. He came as Hitman and totally looked just like it. Also, I just don't spend enough time with my kid brother anymore. I need to remedy that. He's such a cuteypants. Special thanks to Mark for doing so much cookin'. I don't know how he always gets stuck doing it, but I'm pretty sure if he weren't so stinkin' good at it, he would probably get to sit down and relax more.

Sunday I helped hostess a baby shower for Crystal, who is sadly not on pleonast. She's the cutest, most petite pregnant woman ever. I learned a lot about co-hostessing. I'm used to doing it by myself. I never was very good at groupwork.

In closing, I had cake for breakfast. Don't worry, I scraped off the icing. It's just that we had so much cake leftover from the party that it needed to be eaten. And I took pretty much all of the rest of it to work today, because if you bring leftovers here, they will disappear within an hour. The power of hungry scientists is a force to be reckoned with.

poll of the day: Do you like frosting/icing on your cake? Do you call it frosting or icing? Are there kinds you like and kinds you don't?

(35 older comments)
nolongerwiseokay, okay, you forced it out of me...we are coming your way! we don't know many details yet, but supposedly we are moving to SA on Nov 11
spinningbeefrosting goes on cake, and icing goes on cookies. and, no, i prefer neither thank you.
cowbilliesI always scrape off the icing too (unless it's cream cheese icing--that is just too good)!
cbonkNO FROSTING!!
cbonkOr icing or anything: this also applies to cookies.
joy_hawthorneI thought that "icing" meant the skinny layer (like the super sweet powder sugar stuff), "frosting" was ultra thick (like the butter cream kind) and marzipan is the stuff you can make stuff out of. Is there not really that clear of definition differences? It is entirely possible that those are "Joy definitions" and have no basis in fact. Let me know what you find out. :-)
bethebooI love frosting!!! I don't like the whipped frosting though. That's just not right. I love how you called your little brother a cuteypants. That made me snicker.
sharonI call it icing, and now I like to make my own. MMMMMMM buttercream.
sarI love frosting, buttercream, the sweet kind!
IMO there is a difference. Frosting is thicker and icing is more like a glaze.
chariroseyit's all good!
tu_madrei like ICING on my cake. and i do NOT like whipped cream or stuff like that on my cakes. just real ICING only.

when you call it frosting, i'm reminded of the "frost yourself" line from how to lose a guy in 10 days
kendradI didn't see the snow... : /
tessYou and Doug should come in town for Wurstfest! It is going on until November 9th, I believe.
janedoeI don't like frosting.
wifeletWHY would you scrape the frosting off your cake?!? I like frosting, but I have to get a middle piece - having the tops and the sides of my cake frosted is just too much.
mrs_wormI got a spam email today that said "Do not read this"

okay.. fine, I won't (delete..)
bootymusicmamaDid you still want those items? I'm taking other packages to the PO today to figure shipping. Just need your address. Thanks!
anneIcing. And I go for the corner pieces, in case they have more icing on them.

That's a cute picture in the top corner.
71lespaulcustomThree Musketeers.
holly_annIt is too late sorry :( I didn't get any pictures either because I am a genius and forgot my camera! Grrrr! There are several albums on facebook though...
kellymckibkibdude i love the icing.
zani128Steve is gradually getting better. Will try to get a post up soon.
heatheronthehillWho knew that frosting/icing could be so controversial! Either way, I'm IN LOVE with the cake wrecks blog! Have you seen it? I laughed until I cried at a few last night.
cowboyrobhad a good time Saturday night
butterflyhomerachelYep. The bridge was over the river Lucerne.
